I've spent the last hour or two doing some reorganization and planning to set up this slightly different forum layout.


Changes
Where are the PixelxSource, PixelxTorials and Technical Support forums?
These forums were ultimately removed. Technical Support can easily be handled in GD and the forum was incredibly inactive. It was only taking up space and making the forums look even more inactive than they actually are.

PixelxSource and PixelxTorials are still heavily WIP sections of the site... and until they're open, I've decided to keep them hidden away for now.

All three removed forums have been relocated to our staff recycle bin, where they'll stay until they're needed again. The forums aren't gone, so nothing is actually "lost."


New Development Boards?
You'll probably notice that the "second floor" section looks a little different than it used to. The old Game Development board has been renamed to "Community Discussions" and we've created a new forum specifically for PxC dev blogs.

We've also got another new forum... an addition that I am ashamed that I didn't think of sooner. The Dev Chat board! It's a new board that focuses on the socialization and opinion sharing part of development... the community part. I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes.


Category Changes
Not a big deal, but the categories have gone through some name changes. Also, they're collapsible now, if you'd want to collapse an entire category for some reason. But why would you? We only have three.

Just another status update as usual.

2012
We're still working on some Navigator tweaks. A big part of the delay was my fault, ever since moving out it's been a lot harder to focus on specific things. Hopefully the new year will change that! Project Nexus is still being worked on as well and I expect to have something I deem "presentable" in January.

With 2012 just on the horizon, we're gonna be taking a few steps back, learning from our mistakes, and improving ourselves for the new year-- as people, as a community, and as a developer.

2011 was a strange year for us, but it's also the most active we've been since 2009. Let's make activity boom with the new year!


Another thing... for the new year there's gonna be a little bit of forum reorganization! New forums, mixing forums together, removing some unused stuff... we'll see where it goes. I hope you guys look forward to it though-- we're gonna focus less on being a "bulletin board" and more on being more like an actual community!

Hey folks! Been a while, eh?

Well, it's been a rough month, so I figured I'd just jump in and let you all know what exactly is going on right now.

Technical Difficulties
Alright, let's get it started with the central issue that has caused the rest of these issues to befall us.

For the last couple of weeks, I have been on limited computer access time. My laptop has started having some malfunctioning issues with the fan, which caused it to overheat and crash very frequently. Working has been difficult, as well as online access in general. I actually was almost late on my rent payment because of it, but our buddy LeakedDave gave me a huge loan, so big ups to him for that!

At the moment, I am on an ancient desktop, and while it does function, I can't leave it on for very long, which is why I've been unfortunately fairly inactive here. I should hopefully be getting some sort of PC that can run better soon, but until then I'm stuck relying on this life-supported desktop.

Navigator still isn't out. What gives?
I am deeply sorry for the delays that we've been facing. I really am. My computer started malfunctioning around the time we were going to finish up the remainder of the Navigator puzzles, so development took yet another hit. On top of that, my computer basically dying means that I fell behind on my paid work that I use to pay for bills and food, which added more stress to the already-stressed release date. We're not a very lucky community, are we?
I'm finishing up the last of the puzzles. Once we do that, we're going to do a test run, fix any puzzles that don't work, and release the game. We are very, very sorry it's been taking so long.

The new project-- where's that?
We are still holding off on announcing the new project in its entirety for now. My computer issues really took a hit on all of the plans I had for it. At this moment in time, via the PixelxCore twitter (@PixelxCore) and my personal twitter (@AlphaSix_PxC [not child safe]), any references to the new project will be tagged with the hashtag #ProjectNexus. "Project Nexus" is the codename for the project, and it will make sense soon enough.

For now, I hope you are at least somewhat excited-- we're barely in pre-alpha and we've already got a solid graphic style! Project Nexus is being worked on from the FreeSpace Engine, the same engine we developed for Fate's Mirror: Speculum Fortuna and Flightless-- so we've already got a solid framework to work off of, and the gameplay should be fairly easy to get working just right.

MrSkeleton has written a new review on the WayForward Technologies game Aliens: Infestation. Give it a read.

I've started working on some custom PxC shirts-- I currently have a developer hoodie and a t-shirt made!

I'm deeply considering sometime around the end of the month, creating some more custom shirts and possibly selling them! We'll have more details on that later, but for now, I leave you with this...

Today, the preorder beta has been updated with some graphical enhancements and all seven fields available for play in their beta form in Endless and Competitive Modes. Part of the graphical enhancements revolve around the completely revamped main menu and title screen, featuring new graphics, some rearrangements, and brand new features.

If you haven't preordered, get to it so you can access all of this stuff nine days early!
